It is obvious that you will be better prepared for the labour market, the goal you seek to reach thinking about how fierce the competition can be. Knowledge is power, hence having a timely knowledge of reality, which you can obtain during a six-month internship, can be crucial. Here we lay down the arguments to help you understand the importance of an internship, such as the one offered at[AP Portugal - Tech Language Solutions](https://www.apportugal.com/en/). On this occasion, we would also like to mention AP Academy's additional advantage, location, it is just across [Porto, a city elected three times European Best Destination](http://www.visitporto.travel/Visitar/Paginas/default.aspx).    ## 15 benefits of an internship at [AP Academy](https://tech.apportugal.com/translation-company-internship-ap-academy?hsLang=en-gb)   Now, let's take a look at each of the 15 benefits of an internship: **1** - In an informal conversation any language services professional, such as a conference interpreter, will say that the internship was invaluable for the experience provided and for giving them more confidence to enter the labour market. **2** - An even stronger argument for students from a city other than Porto and especially for those from another country: studying abroad is an enriching personal and professional experience. **3** - A fact that we love to highlight: in an increasingly competitive labour market having a real experience in a relevant job will be decisive. Hence the benefit of an internship. **4** - The figures speak for themselves across all Europe: those who join the labour market with at least a six month experience obtained during an internship, have an advantage over any other new graduate. **5** - What do I actually get from an internship? The answer is simple: you will benefit from joining the labour market with real experience in your professional area.     **6** - Getting a job at the end of the internship is not an unreasonable idea. At [AP Academy](https://blog.apportugal.com/en/academy-the-benefits-of-doing-an-internship-at-ap-portugal?hsLang=en-gb), we offer the possibility, after the six-month internship, to take part in the career progression system within [AP Portugal - Tech Language Solutions](https://www.apportugal.com/en/). And, why not, start your professional career as an in-house translator or a freelancer. **7** - What do I get from an internship? The opportunity to develop professional skills in a real work scenario, thus being better prepared for your professional life. **8** - Here's a sentence you must have heard during your academic career: an [internship](https://www.apportugal.com/join-us-en/internships/) is a stepping stone for your professional career, an idea that we fully embrace at AP Academy Tech Language Solutions. **9** - After several years of learning, acquiring theoretical knowledge about the language services industry, the internship is the first and decisive contact with the real world. An opportunity to put the theory into practice. > #### If you come from abroad, this **#13** is especially for you. **10** - We arrive at the top 10 with a question: why do I need experience? First of all, the contact with reality may even help us realise we do not want to follow that professional area. **11** - An internship is an additional asset in the resume you will send for your first job application. **12** - Working as a professional will enable your first contacts in the world of language services industry. **13** - It is true that employers value candidates with a 'global mindset'. In other words, candidates whose experience includes working with colleagues from other countries. If you come from abroad, this is especially for you. **14** - Internships provide full-time jobseekers with the skills to work in all types of companies, whether large, medium-sized or small. **15** - [Mentoring](https://blog.apportugal.com/en/mentoring-the-passion-and-the-commitment-of-ap-academy?hsLang=en-gb), a major concern at AP Academy, is more than a word.
