Listen to the first sounds recorded on Mars

NASA's Perseverance rover has recorded the first audio clips captured on the surface of Mars, beaming back to Earth guttural sounds of wind gusting on the red planet.

The first-of-its-kind audio was released Monday, along with extraordinary new video footage of the rover as it descended and landed. The images are among the most sophisticated yet taken of Mars, and offer never-before-seen views of the rover approaching its landing site.

Thomas Zurbuchen, the associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, said the new images and audio are "the closest you can get to landing on Mars without putting on a pressure suit."

Apple translate app struggles

“Please release a DeepL Translate App with photo translation, voice translation for Google Android and Apple iOS,” one February 28, 2021 tweet reads. “I don’t want use anymore for this Google Translate or others [sic].”

Reviews have been mixed since Apple unveiled the Translate app for the latest iPhone operating system, iOS 14, last summer. The app’s September 2020 release featured text and voice translation between any combination of 11 languages: English, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Portuguese, and Russian.

Starting with a more limited scope instead of the already-supported 30 languages, invited lots of criticism. One tweet described the Apple Translate app as “a big disappointment. The world speaks a lot more than just a dozen languages.”

When will Clubhouse be available for Android users?

“Today was my first day at @joinClubhouse,” Mopewa Ogundipe tweeted on Monday. “If you know me, you probably know I have *opinions* about iOS only apps so I’m v. excited to be joining the team to bring the party to Android.”

Clubhouse, the rapidly growing social media audio app, has hired an Android software developer, signaling that the startup has begun the development of a version of its app for the popular mobile operating system created by Google.

Clubhouse launched in March 2020, and since then, the company has quickly become one of the hottest consumer apps out of Silicon Valley. On Clubhouse, users can gather in audio-only virtual rooms, where they will often discuss topics about emerging tech, socialize over pop culture or listen to speakers like Elon Musk.

FOMO is a great marketing tool

FOMO is actually a great marketing tool to use when you're planning an event. Usually, people don't start registering for events until the last minute. As a marketer, you're probably wondering, "How can I get them to register earlier?"

A great way to sell more tickets faster is to use FOMO as a way of motivating your audience to buy tickets through early bird registration.

The idea behind early bird registration is that people won't want to miss out on a deal. Plus, this tactic taps into your audience's sense of urgency. So if you have people on the fence about whether or not they want to go to your event, then an early bird registration might be all you need to nudge them in the right direction.

Your target audience is on YouTube

While it’s a great source of entertainment, YouTube has also proved itself to be a valuable tool for marketers. In fact, 70% of viewers bought from a brand after seeing content on YouTube. And, with a global user base of more than 2 billion people, it’s also safe to assume that your target audience is on the platform.

However, just as it is for all social networks, building a presence on YouTube requires understanding which segments of your audience are already there. Having that information makes it easier to create content that speaks to their interests, maximize ROI, and achieve general marketing success. In this post, Hubspot go over key YouTube statistics you need to know for 2021 to help you succeed in your marketing efforts.

Last but not the least

An article recommended by Mário Júnior, CEO of AP | PORTUGAL Tech Language Solutions >> Ojok Okello is transforming his destroyed village into a green town where social enterprises responsibly harness the shea tree.

Now, just outside Ojok Okello’s living-room door, final-year pupils at the early childhood centre are noisily breaking for recess and a market is clattering into life, as is the local craft brewery, as what has become Okere City begins a new day.

“I think what I’m doing here is radical,” says Okello, who is behind an ambitious project to transform the destroyed village of 4,000 people into a thriving and sustainable town.
