Digital marketing: so what does Google predict? Let's find out

Written by AP | PORTUGAL | 25-Nov-2019 14:56:12

The doubts have been cleared. That's right, consumers - whether we talk about products or services - have become dependent on increasingly accessible technology that makes information ever faster.

At the click of a finger you can learn a lot about all sorts of things, so the importance of digital marketing is clear and shows no signs of slowing down. On the contrary...

What is changing then and what should you keep an eye out for? Trends, or rather, paths you should follow to keep ahead of the game and stay visible. Sell a product or provide a service.

From a series of studies made by Google one can discern the digital marketing trends for the coming years.

So what does Google predict? Let's find out.

Voice search; the growth is obvious

The growth became more prominent in 2019 and will continue to grow from 2020 onwards. The NDP Group forecasts smart speaker sales to see 50 percent growth by the end of 2019.

What does this mean? A huge opportunity for your company or organisation that, beware, will need specific marketing project and accurate SEO for voice search. Remember what we've already said about SEO voice search.

More online videos. And subtitling

In its 2018 Online Video Forecasts Report, Zenith Media stated that by 2020 the average person will be spending 84 minutes a day watching videos online. The year 2019 will end with this fact: for the first time, people will spend more time online that in front of TV screens.

"A variety of formats (reports, video blogs, interviews, discussions) makes it easy to adapt such content to almost any audience. The lack of processing and installation reduces the distance between the brand and users, and most importantly, meets the request for accuracy and authenticity, says Google.

To all of this we add subtitling. Video is not enough. What might seem like a technical detail has become vital for communication and subtitling is also a great tool to improve the SEO of your site, communicate and excelling in the organic positioning.

Mobile technology will be increasingly important

Consumers expect increasingly better and faster digital experiences, particularly in the mobile world. The world where your customers "live" longer and longer. Every detail can lead to the loss of customers - 53% of people leave sites where downloads take more than three seconds - so the investment in your site will have to be careful and precise.

And within this framework, you will also need a translation company that will be able to  help your company or organisation develop a multilingual site, with multilingual SEO, especially if you've made the decision to internationalise... All of this for the sake of something essential: improving the organic positioning of your website.

Inbound marketing and ad blockers

Business Insider predicted that 30% of all Internet users would ad block by the end of 2018. Now, this is why inbound marketing has become essential to help improve the organic positioning of your brand. Imagine that people don't know how use the product, or that the company is new to the market and people don't trust it.

Content helps educate and can improve your position on Google, helps bring more traffic to your site, creates more opportunities and more sales.  Translation and SEO optimisation of your website or blog content or blog will play a decisive role in this particular field.

Other trends for the following years

  • Studies have concluded that the most important criteria for 86% of the online audience is the reliability of the information. In other words, the information provided by other users of the website that make reviews of products, photos, and videos and thus help your brand to reach a wider audience, increase credibility and customer loyalty.
  • Chatbots are becoming more frequently used in the contact between brands and potential customers. Gartner analysts predict that chatbots will power 85% of customer service by 2020.
