Not everyone’s on board yet, though, and you’re probably wondering: what’s all the fuss about ChatGPT? First, go to chat.openai.com
If it’s your first time, you’ll need to set up a free account with OpenAI before getting started. You have the option of choosing an easy login with a Google or Microsoft account, or just entering your email address.
Here’s what ChatGPT is, how to use it, and how it could change the future of the internet.
Machine-learning technology has been around for eons, but for the most part, only geeks were interested in it. And then out comes ChatGPT and suddenly “meatspace” (internet pioneer John Perry Barlow’s derisive term for the non-techie world) wakes up and exclaims: “So that’s what this AI stuff is all about. Wow!”
And then all hell breaks loose, because it turns out that all the tech giants, who had been obsessed with this generative AI stuff for years, realised that they had been scooped by a small US research outfit called OpenAI (cunningly funded by boring old Microsoft). Google, Meta, Amazon and co were panic-stricken by the realisation that the AI bandwagon, hauled by a Microsoft locomotive, was pulling out of the station – and they weren’t on it.
The use of ChatGPT and similar AI tools in the HR space is expected to increase significantly in the future, as organizations continue to look for ways to improve the efficiency of HR processes while reducing costs.
As with any new technology, there are potential challenges organizations will need to consider when implementing ChatGPT in the HR space. One challenge is ensuring that the technology is trained on a diverse dataset to avoid bias in its responses. Organizations will also need to ensure that HR employees are comfortable using ChatGPT, as some employees may prefer human interaction for certain tasks.
ChatGPT is quickly being developed beyond its standard functionality on browsers and computer-based programs. One company has even created a “holographic AI companion” that uses the chatbot to bring its vision to life.
The company called Looking Glass recently shared on Twitter several demos of people interacting with its holographic AI companion, called Uncle Rabbit, which is able to communicate back-and-forth in real time with humans, while also completing tasks that people request.
The Australian graphic design platform hosted its flagship Canva Create event last Thursday, sharing a suite of new features that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to make the design process more efficient. One of those — aptly named Translate — allows users to translate the text written in a given design into 134 different languages.
For businesses, one of the biggest challenges can be rolling out assets across different markets,” Michael Levot, the company’s head of localization, told the audience at Canva Create on Thursday. “So to help bridge your designs, bridge language barriers, I am thrilled to be launching Translate.”
While ChatGPT has made quite the splash, it's important to note that there are many other tools available that offer their own unique and exciting features, including automating data analysis and creating stunning visuals.
With it no longer being viewed as something of the future but part of our present, it's important to explore the various services AI tools offer that can help take our productivity to the next level.
Here’s a list of the top AI tools beyond ChatGPT that can revolutionise the way we work.
