The need to use authentication and certification services has not decreased with the new circumstances, it has only reinforced the importance of relying on the same effectiveness and competence.

There has been no change in need for authentication and certification of various types of documents requested by foreign and national institutions requiring a certified translation, or official documents for use in another country, such as diplomas ou certificates, birth and marriage certificates, divorce decrees, death certificates, notarial deeds, criminal records, licenses, contracts, driver's licenses, medical reports and sick leaves, financial information, invoices. The list is long and comprehensive.

There are rules to be considered when requiring these services. It all starts, of course, with the mandatory access to the original document or, preferably, a certified true copy.

Important notes to consider include

• If it is an online certificate, a certified copy is not required for certification.
• For projects that include certifications or apostille, the certification and/or Apostille deadline must be added to the submission deadline.
• The deadline for certification and/or apostille may be extended by up to one week depending on the weekday the translation is completed and submitted for certification and/or apostille
• For certification the original document or preferably a certified true copy is required.

Authentication and certification in Porto and Lisbon

In addition to the key points on the rules for authentication and certification services, it is important to highlight some remarks on the timetable.

Thus, in order to speed up certification procedures, AP | PORTUGAL Tech Language Solutions has detailed differences for whether the service is requested in Porto or in Lisbon.

So, please consider the following:

In Lisbon, after the translation is completed, AP| PORTUGAL accepts documents to be certified every Monday, thus ensuring that the certified document will be available to collect on Friday the same week, after 2pm.

Should an apostille be required, it will be available to collect, in Lisbon, on Friday the following week after 2:00pm.

In Porto, after the translation is completed, AP| PORTUGAL accepts documents to be certified every Tuesday. In this case, the certified document will be available to collect on Thursday the same week, after 12:00 pm.

Should an apostille be required, it will be available to collect, on Thursday the following week after 2:00pm.
