Content Curation

Suddenly, we were all in Zoomtopia talking about team building games and cyberloafing

The truth is that in this "information era" knowing the difference between "more knowledge" and "better knowledge" has become even more important.

The principle can be applied in the area of language and technological services, and it makes content curation a challenge which AP | PORTUGAL takes on with the same enthusiasm that we have had since our foundation, incorporating elements of the future into the present.

First up,

Ten years ago, Silicon Valley had written off Zoom. Now it’s used by everyone from princes to piano teachers. Then that strange cluster of Wuhan cases began it's unstoppable global spread, and by the end of March about half the planet’s governments had locked their citizens indoors, leaving them to figure out how to work and socialise from home. Suddenly, we were all in Zoomtopia.

Your remote team is communicating ineffectively

When your team can't be in the same space, communication needs to become more intentional. So, how do you do that? And how do you know when your communication needs some work? In fact, for remote teams communication with co-workers is a challenge that remote workers face daily.

Additionally, according to HubSpot's findings, non-HubSpot remote workers noted a lack of social connection (29%) and communicating with co-workers (29%) as the two biggest challenges they face being remote.

Online team building games

When members of your team work remotely, it can be a slight hurdle to foster team building without face-to-face contact. Although it can be tough to figure out how to build team morale virtually, the task isn't impossible. Remote team building games improve the morale of your team and their sense of belonging, which is essential for your team's overall productivity and employee satisfaction.

Pieces of content your audience wants to see

How are readers consuming content? For content creators, it’s important to know what kind of content readers want, and also how they want to read it. HubSpot found that different types of content are more likely to retain readers’ close attention than others. Generally speaking, longer written content is more likely to be skimmed, and content with more visual elements, such as videos and images, are more likely to be thoroughly consumed.

Mind over clutter

Researchers have made connections between low quality work environments, such as loud offices with harsh lighting, and a reduction in work productivity and job satisfaction. Disorganized or cluttered workspaces, specifically, seem to increase levels of stress and anxiety. For others, mess is a mark of creativity. “As you’re sitting in a room and trying to work, your mind can easily jump to different things and tell you to do something else,” says Hannah McLane, a neurologist and occupational medicine specialist. “You see a dirty dish, and you just have to clean it. You see a dress on the floor, and you pick it up. This can lead you into a series of thoughts, stressing about what you need to do or actually doing it, even though you should be focusing on something else.”

We all cyberloaf

We all cyberloaf – and the science says that it can make us more productive at work. But when does a useful break become plain old slacking off? Cyberloafing is often presented as a negative. Yet more recent research suggests that a degree of cyberloafing may be beneficial to employees; those small breaks help them refocus between tasks and even deal with workplace stress. Briefly stepping back – also known as “psychological detachment” – helps them muster energy to continue through the workday.

Last but not the least

An article recommended by Mário Júnior, CEO of AP | PORTUGAL Tech Language Solutions. Nike serves up an inspirational 90-second spot that ends with a two-part tagline: “You can’t stop sport / You can’t stop us.” The piece highlights how resourceful and inventive post-production techniques can help create standout messages despite current pandemic restrictions on filmmaking. Creating the ad required sifting through 4,000 pieces of footage to find action scenes that could merge within a single frame.
