We live in an era in which the pursuit of sustainability shapes the decisions of companies and individuals. Video production, once considered an intrinsically resource-intensive activity, is now undergoing a significant transformation thanks to the integration of Artificial Intelligence.
In the face of a dynamic business reality, sustainability has acquired an increasingly crucial role. The same applies to video production, which today faces the enormous challenge of reinventing itself.
The good news is that thanks to the ever-increasing presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, the option has emerged to redefine the way we produce videos.
The transition to AI-based video production is not just a matter of technological innovation. It can also mean a commitment to sustainability.
While it is true that sustainability is increasingly a priority among companies and organizations, they are looking for ways to reduce their environmental impact, and this concern applies to video production.
Let's be clear, traditional video production methods are resource-intensive. They require travel, the use of recording studios and travel to filming locations. All factors that contribute to carbon emissions.
A study by the University of Cambridge concluded that the production of a 15-minute video can generate up to 2 tons of carbon emissions. These emissions are mainly caused by transportation, energy use and the production of materials.
Video production with AI can help to significantly reduce these emissions. For example, AI can be used to create videos without the need to travel or go on location. It can also be used to optimize energy use, reducing electricity consumption. In practice, digital production based on AI generates around 100 kg of CO2, a substantial difference that leaves no room for doubt.
Traditional video production requires moving crews and equipment, a process that contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. For example, one plane trip for a film crew can result in around 2 tons of CO2. In addition, the energy consumption of equipment such as cameras and lighting intensifies the carbon footprint, with an average consumption of 100 kWh per day of filming, equivalent to around 50 kg of CO2 per day.
AI-assisted video production represents a significant step forward in reducing the carbon footprint. By eliminating the need for travel and intensive use of equipment, this approach can reduce carbon emissions by up to 95% compared to traditional methods. The use of servers and data centers for AI processing, despite consuming energy, represents a fraction of emissions compared to previous practices.
In other words:
Sustainability is the priority
As sustainability becomes an undeniable priority, video production with Artificial Intelligence emerges as the golden opportunity for companies to reduce their ecological footprint.
Switching to more efficient methods not only preserves the environment, but also promotes an innovative and adaptable approach to visual content production.
